Delma Curtis of Harrison
Delma Sue Curtis, age 88, of Harrison, died November 9, 2021, at her home.
She was originally born in Pyatt, but was a longtime resident of Boone County. Contrary to popular belief, she was born May 19, 1933, a daughter of Delmar and Autie (Smith) Pruitt.
She was a member of Bear Creek Springs Baptist Church. She was the co-founder of Curtis Heating and Cooling, and this legacy continues today through the third generation.
She was known to her family and friends as being honest, fair and a very good friend to many; always going the extra mile to participate in events and support her community.
She enjoyed many hobbies which allowed her to meet a variety of people; she was a lover of golf, bridge, gardening, and a long-time member of the Woman’s Book Club of Harrison. Encouraged by her passion for reading, perhaps her greatest passion was to travel.
Over the years she was able to go to many locations, ranging from roaming the states to seeing the world. The journey was always more important than the destination and she frequently shared her adventures with her close friends and family, making enduring relationships along the way. She was cherished by all and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her son, Philip Curtis and his wife, Modene; grandchildren and their spouses, Reagan and Ricky Brown, Heidi and Jacob Glover, Cash and Tracy Curtis, Brock Curtis and Reagan Brown; greatgrandchildren, Hayden, Lexi, Landen and Hunter Brown, Gray Glover, and Braylen and Evy Curtis; and a sister, Dorothy Reese.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Eugene T. Curtis; beloved daughter, Sarita Dee Curtis English; and her parents.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Holt Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Enloe officiating. Burial was in Summer Cemetery at Harrison under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Active pallbearers were Cash Curtis, Brock Curtis, Jacob Glover, Ricky Brown, Hayden Brown, Landen Brown, Hunter Brown, and Braylen Curtis. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Tom Leslie, Ben Eddings, Wayne Estes, Nina Massengale and employees of Curtis Heating and Cooling.
Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
