During each person’s lifetime we meet people who impact our lives; she was one of those people. She was a strong person and all that knew and loved her would agree.

He began her banking career with Citizens Bank after working a few years at Flintrock Shirt Factory. She worked many, many years in banking.

She was involved with different civic activities, including the local Searcy County Softball League, beginning in the 1970’s until the decline in the mid 1980’s. She remained active in community organizations, helping promote Searcy County and was an original attendee and member of Searcy County Lead/AR group that worked tirelessly promoting Searcy County.

She enjoyed her many friends but none as special as Edna Treat; many miles they traveled together, shopping, going to shows in Branson, eating out, playing softball together, and in recent years being members of the Red Hat Society.

She was known as Lady Little Hat in the Society. So much laughter and fun times were shared over the years of their special friendship.

She was a caregiver and spent many years caring for her husband, J.D. and son, Jimmy. When her health allowed she attended Marshall Assembly of God Church.

In March 2021 she moved to Highland Court in Marshall. While she was a resident, she renewed friendships and made new ones. She received excellent care and had amazing caregivers who worked tirelessly with extreme patience and diligence, providing for her even when her strong, independent personality caused difficulties for them.

Survivors include her son, Timmy L. Massey and wife Pam; grandson, Matthew Massey and Tristan; greatgrandsons, Jacob and Joey Massey, all of Marshall; granddaughter of her heart, Kyla Horton Stephens of Bentonville; and special friend, Carl Gilley of Highland Court.
