Betsy Ferguson of Leslie

Betsy Marie Chrisman Ferguson, age 89 of of Leslie, Arkansas died peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Cambria, Missouri on April 2, 1933 to Roscoe Raymond Chrisman and Ruth Isabell Regenold Nickols.

She married David Jackson Ferguson on January 25, 1952. They were married for 44 years until he went to be with the Lord.

She was a woman of God, a member of the First Baptist Church of Leslie who served the Lord diligently and faithfully throughout her life. She had an intense fondness for cooking in the kitchen. She would have your favorite meal planned if she knew you were visiting or if she was visiting you.

She enjoyed giving friends and neighbors plates of homemade cookies. From her jams to her “pushy-cons”, everything she made was delicious. She put all her love and effort into her food. She also loved knitting and sewing. She made hundreds, if not thousands, of quilts, blankets, hot pads, dish clothes, and so much more.

She was a loving woman who cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She loved to travel and visit family whenever she could, sit for her grandchildren, and host the occasional family reunion.

Survivors include her son, David Allen Ferguson (Michele) of Richmond, Texas, and daughters, Victoria Ruth Ferguson Banks (Mike) of Dennard, Arkansas; Dorothy Marie Ferguson Morse (Andrew) of Janesville, Wisconsin; Betsy Faith Ferguson Lewis (Lain) of Aledo, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Ross Chrisman, Byron (Carlene) Chrisman, Lee (Gayle) Nickols and sisters, Gloria “Boots” Hammon and Fran Oas.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Jackson Ferguson; sisters, Roxie Totie, Anella Oldham and Nancy Young; and brother, Robert Nichols.

Funeral services for her were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Leslie First Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Arnold Jr., Bro. David Latham and Bro. Chris Reade officiating. Special music was performed by Jim and Diane Arnold and Dillon McCallister. Visitation was 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. preceding the service. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery where she was laid to rest beside her husband, David Jackson Ferguson who passed away in 1996. Pallbearers were David Latham, Brendan Lewis, Ian Lewis, Connor Latham, Jacques Ward, and Thomas Ferguson. Honorary Pallbearers were Adam Morse, Payton Vannatter, Kirk France, Dawson France, Tyler France, and Micah MacDonald.
