JW Mize, age 86 of Big Flat, Arkansas died on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at NARMC in Harrison, Arkansas with family by his side. He was born in Cedar Creek, Arkansas on September 5, 1936 to Seth Newton Mize and Irene Treat Mize.

Throughout his life, he worked as a sheetrock finisher and shared his trade with his younger brothers, who shared it with their sons.

He enjoyed working on and trading cars. He loved to tell stories, but some to be taken with a grain of salt.

Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his good friend, Susie and driving from Big Flat to Marshall to get a McDonald’s sausage biscuit and coffee.

Survivors include his children, Donnie Mize, John Wayne Mize, Kevin Mize, Nicole Enlow and Jim Hird; siblings, Willa Mullens (Herman), Earl Mize (Darlene), Paul Mize (Ruth), Ina Easter (Jim) and Marion Mize (Della); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Irene Mize; and brother, Charles Mize.

Funeral services for him were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Round Mountain Church near Big Flat with Bro. Charlie Rowe officiating. Visitation was 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. preceding the service. The burial was in Treat Cemetery near Big Flat, Arkansas. Pallbearers were Wayne Mize, Ricky Mize, Sammy Mize, Paul Dean Mize, Keith Mize and Daniel Mize.
