Leroy Sullins of Marshall

John Leroy Sullins, age 79 of Marshall, Arkansas died on Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home with family by his side. He was born in Bear Creek, Arkansas on January 14, 1944 to Sherman Leroy “Sherm” Sullins and Ruth Horton Sullins.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshall. In later years he enjoyed attending the Eastside Missionary Baptist church also.
He ran Leroy’s Body Shop alongside his wife Donna for 40 plus years.
He was a very talented man and was considered a master craftsman. He built several commercial buildings and residential homes including one for each of his daughters.
He served on the Marshall City Council for many years.
In younger years he enjoyed hunting and going on annual hunting trips with friends. He loved going to the coffee shop every morning and visiting with his coffee drinking buddies.
He is a Searcy County icon that will be missed by his community and many friends.
Survivors include his children, Rhonda Rowlett and husband Larry of Greenbrier and Reta Brewer and husband Terry of Conway; grandchildren, Casie Upton (Chad), Nikki Revels (Jerry), Amber Crawford (Chase) and Amanda Murphy (James); great-grandchildren, Chloe Upton, Will Upton, Sam Upton, Silas Revels, Charlotte Revels, Audrey Murphy and baby Dean Murphy on the way; sisters, Sherrion Kay Hulsey and Norma Lee Petran; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will also mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherm and Ruth Sullins; wife of 50 years, Donna Loftin Sullins who passed away in 2011; and siblings, Geneva Alene Sullins, Vada Mae Maxwell, Bonnie Lea Carroll, Marrion Ray Foley, Betty Sue Doty and Dorsey Lee Horton.
Funeral services for him were 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Roy Ragland, Bro. Shirl Williams and Bro. Chad Upton officiating. Visitation was 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. preceding the service. Private family burial was in Witts Springs Cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his wife, Donna. Pallbearers were Chad Upton, Jerry Revels, Chase Crawford, James Murphy, Larry Rowlett and Terry Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were his coffee drinking friends and greatgrandsons, Will and Sam Upton.
At the family’s request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock, AR 72202. The family would also like to offer a very special thank you to Legacy Hospice and their staff for the excellent care they gave to him.
