The Theories of Spontaneous Generation

Genesis 1: 3 “And God said, let there be light and there was light” It appears that in our world and in this time, humans have been left with the distinct impression that they can match wits with God. To believe someone is smarter than their Creator is foolish at best and dangerous at worst.

Mayor of Marshall, Arkansas Met with local Rotary Civic Organization

On an extremely cold day, Mayor Elliott changed from his overhauls to go meet with the Marshall Rotary Club. He had been up since dawn looking for water leaks. He provided the Rotarians an overview of the administrative accompl i shment s made for the citizens of Marshall in the past year and the progress of current projects that are moving the city in the right direction. He also identified areas that need to be addressed in the coming year. That briefing was all before he rushed out to put his overhauls on again to help crews get ready for the impending weather. Thus, he is a really good juggler of his time schedule and work commitments and city responsibilities.

St. Joe News

Devin brought a bale of straw for the chick house, got the nests fixed up well. Hoping that helps with the laying. And have ordered a solar heat lamp for them although I don’t think they need one. They made it last winter without and laid all winter long. The hens are fat and sassy, eat well and are active. I go on the 12th of March for my new chicks, hopefully they will do well and if the old ones don’t perk up and start laying there will be a family dumpling night.

Around Our Town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Oh my what very cold and snowy weather we have had this past week. We have had some snow but really the very cold negative temperatures. Bone chilling dangerously cold. Although we have had much colder temperatures in the past. Cold like -17 for days on end. This time of Winter the cold seems to seep into your bones as it has been so cold for so long and the negative temperatures just make it worse. I can, however, take the cold of winter much better than the unrelenting heat of summer. We are supposed to warm up by the weekend. I am hoping that this is the last big hurrah for snow and cold weather. Spring is still a month away but I am holding out hope for an early warm Spring.

Memories and Meals

Food can bring you back to your childhood and those that you have lost. My father thinks fondly on memories with his own mother of trips to San Francisco and soft, tangy sourdough bread. With all the bad memories that plague us, good memories can still prevail and food can help do that.

Old Town St. Joe

The fire department was called out late Monday night to a house fire in St. Joe. But it was too late to save the House on Rainbow Hill. It is believed the fire was a result of the hot water heater being turned up too high. The house was a total loss.

Most of us have dogs that are pets or working dogs. Dogs were a vital part of life for early American pioneers and settlers. The American Cuir is considered the quintessential pioneer dog. They were working animals as well as pets; from guard in homes, to assisting in hunts.
