Most of us have dogs that are pets or working dogs. Dogs were a vital part of life for early American pioneers and settlers. The American Cuir is considered the quintessential pioneer dog. They were working animals as well as pets; from guard in homes, to assisting in hunts.

Well, this springtime weather has fooled some of our summer shrubs and there is green starting to happen around the place. I, for one, am hoping that the famous groundhog was wrong and that maybe this coming cold snap will be the end of winter for this year! Being a summer gal, spring can’t get here soon enough for me!

Memories and Meals

Food can bring you back to your childhood and those that you have lost. My father thinks fondly on memories with his own mother of trips to San Francisco and soft, tangy sourdough bread. With all the bad memories that plague us, good memories can still prevail and food can help do that.

2024 Arkansas Youth Tour Participant Awards

Scott Housley, Public Relations and Member Services Specialist, presented the 2024 Arkansas Youth Tour participants (Melanie McCoy, Landon Gatliff (not pictured), and Kassidy Clark) with their medallions last week. He addressed the Juniors at Clinton High School and Searcy County School District, emphasizing the incredible opportunity the Youth Tour offers. The 2024 participants shared their own experience, and the valuable skills gained through participation, stressing the importance of leadership, networking, and personal growth. Scott encouraged the 2025 High School Juniors to apply, explaining how the program would not only help them discover their potential but also provide a platform to make lasting memories with peers from all over. He concluded by urging them to take the leap and seize the chance to expand their horizons on this lifechanging journey.

Congratulations to Audrey Blair of Marshall who dropped the big 5-0 while also scoring her 1500th point of her career in an 83-40 victory over Lead Hill. Is 50 the most that anyone has scored this season?
