Chimes news

Hello again. Well, we are in to our new year, 2024 and we had our first snow on Friday, also had some rain with it. The snow didn’t last long. That’s the kind I like. Here today and gone tomorrow. It has been pretty chilly, too. Sunday was a beautiful day.

Newbie no more

Warm spots Just now, my mind turns to warm spots and cozy things. Things like warm sweaters, fuzzy socks, the fireplace. I know I go on about loving cold weather, but it’s hard to love damp cold and 30 mph wind. And this is just the prelude to our first real brush with winter. (Is my math right that we will be 110 degrees colder than our highest high last summer?) That brings so much to take care of. Pretty much everybody has to deal with keeping the pipes from freezing and one weatherman described next week as pipe-bursting cold. Hauling water out for the animals to swap out for frozen buckets is one of my least favorite winter jobs.

South Mountain/Nubbin Hill news

Jan 9th Hello out there, hope this finds you in a warm spot! It is really supposed to get cold next week, or this coming week, anyway, it is going to be extra cold. I hope you have good heat, if not, go somewhere where it is warm!

Witts Springs news

I put some feed in my two bird feeders and have had a lot of activity around them today. The suet blocks last longer than the seeds. This morning I had three male redbirds come. I have blacked capped chickadees, redbirds, titmouse, different kinds of sparrows. Probably more that I cannot see good enough to tell what they are.

Marshall news

Well here we in the second week of January, and looking for cold weather. I hope they are wrong about that.

Snowball news

Greetings from Snowball! It’s been a while, I’m sure you’ve noticed and my sincerest apologies. I hope to do better in the new year.

Around our town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Winter is beginning to set in it has just gotten much colder and stayed that way. The last ice age started with a cold day so I keep that in mind. We have had a lot of glorious days where the sun just shone so brightly but the north wind was just blowing. We did get some snow on one day but just a dusting so I don’t know if it is the first of 9 snow days that the foggy August and the spoons in the persimmon seeds have predicted. Then there is the wooly worms big red stripe on them this year to consider as well. It all remains to be seen.
