St. Joe News

Listening to the news tells us that there would be snow and ice at night but I woke up to 37 degrees and precipitation. I was really glad since I had to go for medicine and supplies. Made it home with no mishaps. I talked to Bill Watts. He and his family are doing well. Still feeding cows and taking care of the farm.

Memories and Meals

My grandmother’s love and passion for cooking passed down to my mother, who then passed that passion down to my sister and me. My mother’s passion for cooking is very similar to how my grandmother felt about cooking. She, as many mothers are, was the main chef in my household growing up, therefore her passion for cooking was centered around savory meals meant to feed a family of five with leftovers for work lunches. However, over time, as many things do, her cooking evolved into experimentation with different cultures. It is these different passions that formed mine and my sisters love for cooking. Over time my sister has experimented and found a love for baking bread, while I have found a passion for desserts. It’s family memories, passions, and emotions that shape us today, even in something as simple as food. Here are four recipes from my sister and me that were shaped by our family memories.
