Searcy County School District Spelling Bee

On Friday, December 6 the Searcy County School District held a spelling bee for their students at the Leslie Intermediate School located in Leslie. These winners will compete in the county spelling bee in January 2025. This year’s district winners are pictured above (left to right) 1st place, Samuel Beckwith, Marshall High School 7th grade, 2nd place Claire Whitelaw, Leslie Intermediate School 5th grade, and 3rd place Caleb Mainord, Marshall High School 8th grade.

MHS Senior High Basketball Dominates the Court

On Friday, December 6 the Marshall High School Basketball Senior teams played against Mammoth Springs at the Ray Moore Gymnasium. The senior high girls played first and won the game with a victory of 58 to 37. The senior high boys played next. The boys walked away with a win of 66 to 54. Each team played their best and showed the true meaning of teamwork.

Good morning and welcome to winter! The holidays will soon be here. Keeping busy plotting Christmas baking recipes, trying to decide on main dish. I’m thinking venison. It’s not like we don’t have enough.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. BRRRR! It has gotten very cold which I am not complaining I much prefer the cold to the intense heat of Summer. The way I see it is that you can always put on more clothes to get warm, but you can walk around in your birthday suit and still be miserably hot. We have not had much in the way of intense weather this week but like many of you who live in the area that can change in an instant.
