The Searcy County Quorum Court will hold special meeting December 18, at 5 p.m. in the Paul Jones Courtroom Annex
December 3: Today is Tuesday. It is 38 and sunshining. I went to the Mountain Wave office, and I visited with Charity Rolen there.
This is part 2 of our meet the old-timer, Harvey Page Honeycutt. He remembered his closest neighbors fondly, and mentioned their names hoping others would also remember them. Leonard Dye, Sarah Wade Baker, Delbert Baker, George Williams, and John Baker. When asked about his favorite thing about Cozahome, he said, âwell, at my old house, I loved that there was no trafficâ. He was referring to the cabin he lived in on what is now Honeycomb Lane which turns off Cozahome Road across from the church. After graduation, Harvey went business school in Springfield and worked part time hanging drapes and making cornices. He then went to California with his brother for about 6 months.
Good morning and welcome to winter! The holidays will soon be here. Keeping busy plotting Christmas baking recipes, trying to decide on main dish. I’m thinking venison. It’s not like we don’t have enough.
Oh, my cup runneth over!
Elvin Duane Horton left this earth December 7, 2024. Born to Doyle and Irene Horton of Marshall on November 24, 1953, he was a lifelong resident of Searcy County. He made his home on Star Mountain not far from where he grew up and refused to leave it for very long. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Doyle and Irene Horton and one brother Jerry Horton. He is survived by two brothers Darrell Horton (Cindy) of Marshall and James Horton (Jackie) of Marshall, four children, Crystal Horton of Marshall, Jermey Horton of Marshall, Courtney Brenaman of Harrison and Christian Ragland (Darren) of Leslie, and six grandchildren, McKinsey Ward, Levi Alsobrooks, Addilyn Horton, Reese Ragland, Lyla Ragland and Gracyn Brenaman. Elvin worked over forty years for the Searcy County School District where he could be seen driving the bus, working on the grounds and occasionally playing pranks on his coworkers. During his lifetime he made many friends and until his illness enjoyed visiting with them drinking coffee at McDonalds or Harps. He liked fishing, working on his trucks and watching his hummingbirds and purple martins at home. He was a proud member of the military always wearing his camouflage hat and flying the American flag over his home. He always had a way with words and a willingness to help. He will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones. Funeral services for Elvin will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 12th, 2024 at Northview Church in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Shane Horton officiating.
Hello to you all. Hope you are doing well. Ray and I are fine. Today is cold and windy, might not seem so cold if the wind wasn’t blowing. It says 43 degrees, but its still cold.
