Billie Lawrence of Marshall

Billie Jo Manuel Young-Lawrence, age 89 of Marshall, Arkansas died peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on December 21, 1932 to Howard Manuel and Vernie Tilley Manuel.

She married Charles Young on April 7, 1951 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage one week before he went to be with the Lord in 2001. After Charles’s passing, she married T.J. Lawrence with whom she had several happy years until his passing in 2013.

She was a child of God, saved as a young woman at a Nazarene Church while living in Tennessee. She recently rededicated her life to the Lord.

She and Charles spent years running a small grocery store and station in the Morning Star community.

She was a wonderful cook and many a meal was enjoyed at her house. Her kids think she has the title of Top Fisherman in the area. She would almost always outdo anyone she was fishing with.

Survivors include her son, Tim Young (Pollyanna) of the Red Oak Community in Searcy County; daughter, Kandy Ragland (Hughy) of the Morning Star Community in Searcy County; stepdaughters, Earlene Bogart (Doug) of El Dorado, Kansas and Vickie Haun (Don) of Haysville, Kansas; grandchildren, Jodie Phillips (Blake) of Morning Star, Chelsea Garner (Dustin) of Silver Hill and Tanner Young of Morning Star; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Addy, Tenley, Eli, Ashlynn, Olivia and Jace; along with a host of family and friends who will mourn her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Vernie Manuel; first husband and father of her children, Charles Rufus Young; second husband, T.J. Lawrence; and sister, Rosemary Kimbrell.

Funeral services for her were 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2022 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Terry Gene Tilley officiating. Visitation was 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. preceding the service. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hughy Ragland, Tanner Young, Blake Phillips, Dustin Garner, Keagan Sanford and Harold Young.
