Around Our Town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. First let me start by saying our hearts go out to the folks affected by the recent tornadoes in Arkansas and Missouri the weather in the Ozarks is no joke and can turn in an instant and in this case most deadly especially in Cave City. So needless to say the wind has been relentless this week. They say March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, I am waiting for the lamb part. After the intense storms that spawned the tornados that brought with it some much cooler temperatures. We did not get much rain considering how rough the storms were but the rain we did get was muddy from the dust storms in Oklahoma that blew in with the storms passing through. All in all the weather has been insane here.

Snowball News

I obviously did not live through the Dust Bowl days, but I can only imagine the last week of Windy days were very similar. The loose dirt on my path to the barn is gone, the floor had been swept clean inside the old chicken house and all the vehicles have a layer of dust on them. I asked our Texas relatives to come get their dust, but they haven’t shown up yet, so I think we’re on our own.

The weather has been so nice all week. I’ve been working on cleaning out the blackberry patch. They’ve just taken over. They have crossed over with the wild blackberries across the fence. We want to put in a blueberry patch, but it might not be feasible to put it in that spot. I’ll find someplace though.

Good morning friends and neighbors! Hope this finds you well. I have been remiss in writing our news for a while. I had cancer surgery and felt under the weather but I’m thrilled to say they removed all the cancer and I’m on the mend.

Around Our Town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. It seems as though Spring is springing. The mornings have been cool still but the days have warmed up nicely up to 85 degrees on my front porch. The forecast called for thunderstorms but they did not materialize. This is the time of year where I just love living in the Ozarks, early Spring.

Around Our Town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Oh my we have had rain this week I am not sure exactly how much rain but quite a bit. The creek and river are really high right now and everything is muddy. I am glad for the water filling up the aquifers and waterways. The weather was warm for a few days but then it rained heavily and then it got very chilly. That really is Spring in the Ozarks you just never really know what to expect. The weather conditions change and change quickly. So bring your coat and hat and umbrella and maybe even snowshoes if you come to visit.

Mark 9: 43-44 “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Matthew 13: 42 “And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
