Dear Editor, The beginnings of Martin Box Chapel, Part I We want to invite everyone to our 65th Anniversary Celebration that is being held July 31st at 10:30 am. The church was officially organized and commissioned as Martin Box Mennonite Brethren Church on July 31, 1957, but it had its beginnings some 10 years earlier.

Ask the Professional

I’ve given quite a few gifts to my children in the past. Some of those gifts have been pretty large. Can I adjust my kids’ inheritances to account for them? My daughter has done well for herself, and she has made it now. My other kids, though, are still “finding themselves,” as the saying goes. Shouldn’t I leave everything equally to each child anyway?

Enjoyed my time with Kim and her grandkids, my great grandkids-Jackson and Khaleesi last week in Fayetteville waiting on my doctor’s appointment of Wednesday, June 23 to get my finger worked on. Everything went well for me. Jackson helped me going in the doctor’s appointments and Khaleesi being four said she could hold my hand.

Washington Update

If you’re like me, there were few days on the calendar that I looked forward to more than the last day of school when I was young. As a parent, I understand how challenging the summer months are to keeping kids busy. Communities offer specialized programs to engage youth through public library reading programs, sports camps and Boys and Girls Clubs. For young people aiming to challenge themselves and make a difference in the lives of others, there is the Congressional Award.

Big Flat Buzz

Good Sunday morning. Hope you are keeping cool. Bill’s been working like a fiend in the garden. I am anxiously awaiting the first crop of tomatoes. The weather has been so dry, the gardens are taking a beating. Some are looking good, but the rest are just drying out.
