Searcy County Historical Society Meeting

The Searcy County Historical Society will meet Friday, June 27 at 7:00 pm in the First Christian Church. The guest speaker will be Tammy Bridwell, Searcy County Library Director, who will tell the story of the creation of the Searcy County Library and how an Evanston, Illinois citizen who had only the Bible to read as a poor farm boy in the Ozark Mountains would have a library dedicated in his honor on April 23, 1961. It was the Jim G. Ferguson, Searcy County Library.

The fire department was called out late Monday night to a house fire in St. Joe. But it was too late to save the House on Rainbow Hill. It is believed the fire was a result of the hot water heater being turned up too high. The house was a total loss.
