Chimes news

Hello again. I hope you are all doing okay this Wednesday afternoon. We got more rain this morning and my it was so dark and looked kind of bad for a while. It is so sad of all the lives lost and damage that was done last Friday from the tornadoes that hit around Little Rock and on through other states. Seems like it can’t rain anymore without being storms somewhere.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. The weather this week has been the usual crazy Arkansas spring weather. It got very warm and muggy, then there were tornados about and lots of thunderstorms and rain then it got very chilly. So basically, spring in Arkansas.

Hope that everyone had a good week. Monday, I want out and found Larry’s male cat dead. It was down by the sheep barn. Larry and I moved some of our strawberry plants. Larry mowed part of the front yard. I was glad that we did not get all of the bad weather that they said we would get.

Snowball news

We’re now just a few short weeks into being open at the Snowball General Store and I’m already missing days! Saturday the Boone County 4-H Horse Club had a trail ride from Tyler Bend to Snowball. We had lunch along the way and made it back with no significant issues. We did find that a horse that’s as tall as a moose fears donkeys, in particular, Bobby and Jacque’s!

Sunday, April 9: Hello to each one of you! I hope you have had a wonderful day, a Happy Easter! Ray and I had a good day. We went to church this morning and had really good services. We had at least 7 young kids and 3 teenagers at church today! We all enjoyed the kids for sure! It is such a blessing to have young people at church. We don’t usually have any kids so we were all so glad to have them. I hope they come back soon! Bro Joe Dale brought the message reading scripture from St. John 18:20-31. Good reading! Then we had communion service, dismissed to have an egg hunt, and then lunch and a good visit. We had our Jennifer and Ethan and Makayla there today and we’re always glad about that. Then they came home with us and we sat and visited for a while longer. It was a good day.

The sound of lawnmowers is being heard in our area. So glad it is warm enough for folks to get out and mow. The May 7, 1926 paper told that the Marshall Lodge No. 190 of the I. O.O. F. was to hold decoration services on Decoration day May 39, 1926 and that they would decorate the graves of all the deceased Odd fellows in the Marshall Cemetery and also the Canaan Cemetery. The Marshall decoration service was to begin at 1 o’clock and the Canaan service at 3. And D L Moore was offering a reward for a sack of sugar that had been lost between Marshall and Dongola.

St. Joe news

So very sad to hear of the passing of Don Passmore. Don was one of the sweetest people I ever knew. A loving father and husband and a good friend always ready for a visit when I ran across him. Thoughts and prayers to Jean and kids, also Charles and Alan.

Rolen Around the Bend

This week’s adventures were a low key. I was mostly recovering from Covid and praying that my children didn’t come down with it. My husband came down with it Tuesday of last week. He missed most of the week because of it. I am happy to say that my kids did not come down with it. I quarantined in my room and when I did come out of my room I wore an N95 mask. I was feeling so much better by Tuesday but still didn’t go back to the office until Thursday of last week. I ended up working from home most of the week. When I did go back Thursday, I was exhausted by 2 p.m. and was desperately needing caffeine which I don’t drink so I just sucked it up. However, when I was able to go home, I passed smooth out.
