Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Brrrrr it got very cold again. After the short reprieve from Winter with the very warm temperatures we had last week 81 degrees in February. Well we are definitely back to our regularly scheduled Winter weather. With freezing rain, sleet, ice and snow on the horizon. There are only a few more weeks of Winter left. I am hoping that we have an early Spring.
Good morning everyone. Today is Wednesday. Kathy and her family and Bo came to visit me for a long time. The people are still working on their new house. Last Friday was Pat Oliver’s birthday. Happy birthday to you. Kathy and Bo came to visit me. They stayed for a long time. Last Saturday the Arkansas Razorbacks played Kentucky. The score was Arkansas 89 and Kentucky 79. Woo Pig Sooie! That was a good game. Last Sunday was Groundhog day. I went to church. I visited with friends there. I went to Bible Study that night. Last Monday I went to visit Pat Oliver. We went shopping at Dollar Tree and Harps. We ate lunch at Subway. Robert came to visit Pat and I. I went home after that. Kathy came to visit me yesterday. Kathy saw five deer by the fence. The fence is right by their yard. Last Tuesday was Brandon Housley’s birthday. Happy birthday to you.
Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the Jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Boy did we get some gully washers this week. With all of the rain that came in last week it was warmer than usual for this time of year. It has been cold in the 30s and 4os as a low but the days warm up nicely. We got a lot of rain in a short period of time. The creek was flowing rapidly, and the Leslie Play Park was flooded. We really needed some rain the past few weeks we have seen precious little of it. But now the aquafers are full, and the springs and waterfalls are all flowing. You can really see the springs and waterfalls along the rock wall along Hwy 65.
Since the weather is so cold and dreary outside, Iâve been cleaning out shelves in the kitchen for out-of-date items. Need to stay more diligent about that. And cleaning out closets. Iâve got a rav full of stuff for Reworks at Marshall when I get the time to go over there. I donât donate to several ânon-profitsâ because the CEOs make more money than the president. Be sure to watch out for that kind of scam.
South Mountain/ Nubbin Hill news By Betty Barnes Well, here we are again. Ray said⦠you better go write the newsâ¦. Iâll not tell you what I said or thought. I had forgotten again. I probably wouldnât write if it werenâtâ for Ray. He keeps me on track.

The Cozyhome Connection By Wanda Treat â Galatians 4:4-5 I feel I have to take a break from âmeeting the old timersâ of Cozyhome this week to tell you about a couple of pretty awesome things. First, our âOld Time Christmas at Cozyhome Churchâ yesterday (Sunday, December 15), was incredible! Lots of work and prayer went into the amazing little skit that involved both regular members and neighborhood visitors. It was simple but had a powerful message. My favorite âtakeawayâ was the little girl who replied to the story of how sin and idol worship came back into Godâs people after the flood. Her statement was, âHow could they! How could the people do that after all God had done for them?â Oh friends, there is a lot we can learn from the innocence of children! Other highlights included the Christmas concert by local barber, Shawn, along with Mr. & Mrs. Coffee, climaxing with them inviting all the children in the sanctuary to come sing Jingle Bells with them on the stage. There was a sweet âfellowship intermissionâ where we shared mulled apple cider, cookies, coffee, and gingerbread cake between the skit and the concert. Then all who attended got a small paper bag carefully packed like the âdays of oldâ with apples, oranges, hard candies, ribbon candy, nuts in the shell, and crème drops. Our special celebration of the birth of Christ at Cozyhome Church is one for the memory books and one we will not quickly forget. The collection for our food box donations continues until December 22, when we will share some of our blessings with those having hard times. God has blessed us greatly. If you donât have a church family, consider the pretty drive out to worship with us.
This is part 2 of our meet the old-timer, Harvey Page Honeycutt. He remembered his closest neighbors fondly, and mentioned their names hoping others would also remember them. Leonard Dye, Sarah Wade Baker, Delbert Baker, George Williams, and John Baker. When asked about his favorite thing about Cozahome, he said, âwell, at my old house, I loved that there was no trafficâ. He was referring to the cabin he lived in on what is now Honeycomb Lane which turns off Cozahome Road across from the church. After graduation, Harvey went business school in Springfield and worked part time hanging drapes and making cornices. He then went to California with his brother for about 6 months.
Looks like cold weather is finally here and believe me, I am not prepared or excited about it. Had to replace the heat light in the well house, it had broke. Still have to replace the door on it and Joe will help me one day when it’s not blazes cold.
