Grassy Gap news

Hope that everyone had a good week. Monday was a nice day so I walked Tammie down the road. We picked up some rocks and put them in the holes that were in the road. I finished painting the bottom of my flat bottom boat that we use in our ponds here on the farm.

Something’s Happening A friend told me to check out what was going on at Asbury Seminary in Kentucky. It had started with someone seeking more of God and quickly spread to 24-hour/day prayer, worship, and Bible teaching sessions with classes canceled in the run-up to the final event, the closing of the Collegiate Day of Prayer which I got to see on TV. Asbury is no stranger to revival, with the last of this magnitude in 1970. As it turns out, I got to be a little part of that one.

Chimes news

Hello everyone. Well this is the first day of March and Jason and my 76 wedding anniversary. We heard this morning that the house which w as t he late Leer and Carl Smith’s home burned last night. We hated so bad to hear that. When we got married Uncle Henry and Aunt Laura Hefner lived there and he was pastor of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church so he did the ceremony in the living room there on a Saturday afternoon March 1, 1946. Of course a few years later, Leer and Carl bought the place and always kept it looking nice and since their deaths their boys and I don’t know who else have always taken care of it and kept it looking good. It is sad that one of the landmarks of this community is gone. To Franklin and Lyle and your families we hate that so bad this has happened.

Witts Springs news

The storms on Thursday night had a lot of wind, lightening and rain. We had 3 and 6/10th inches of rain. Only by the grace of God did the tin stay on the barn roof. There were puddles everywhere. The pond is full and running over. The grass carp have the grass and little lily pads gone. I thought at first, when we put them in there that they were not getting the job done. I just waited and after a few months I could tell they were making a difference. I just took them a while at 6 to 10 inches and only three of them, to start making a difference.
