Welcome Home and Bear Creek news

Hi everyone. I am happy that Kansas City chiefs won the Super Bowl game last night. That was a good game. Today is Monday. I visited Leisa Younger at the Mountain Wave office. I stopped by to visit with Mary at Harps. I went to the toe doctor in Harrison. I stopped by to visit Craig Kite; he is okay. We ate at Western Sizzling. They have good food. Then I went home. Kathy is in Tennessee.

Good afternoon to you all. This is a beautiful day so Jason and I took advantage of it and went for a ride in the s ide by side this afternoon. It is kind of hard getting in and out of any kind of vehicle, but we manage. We get so tired being inside so much. We enjoy riding through the cattle and we usually end up going by the cemetery. It just feels good getting out in the sunshine. Nancy was here a few days last week so we all went to Ronnie and Thereisa’s to see the new baby girl. Of course, she is cute and so sweet. We had five generation pictures made on both the Housley and Mathis side. We saw all of Ronnie and Thereisa’s family except Brandon and Brandi and enjoyed our visit with them.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. We sure got a lot of weather this past week. Although we had some really glorious sunny days that were warm and balmy, we had our fair share of frosty temperatures at night and in the early mornings. There was some severe weather this past week as well. There were tornados that blew overhead, and the tornado warnings were going off on my phone several times in the early morning hours. It was really quite a lightning show and the thunder clapped as soon as the lightning flashed so the storm was very close. There was a lot of rain and the next day you could see that there were a lot of limbs down all over town. There have been a lot of tree limbs downed this winter. We had the really heavy wet snow that took down trees and limbs and took out the power for half the town. Then the heavy sleet and ice and now heavy rains and high winds. So normal unpredictable Arkansas weather. It has been said many times if you don’t like the weather here, stick around it will change quickly.

Hope that everyone had a good week. Monday was a nice day. I worked outside part of the day. I looked at my fruit trees and found that some had limb damage. They were my peach trees. Three of them had limbs broken.

This is Wednesday afternoon, and it has been a rainy day. I don’t know how much we have gotten, but a lot. We are just thankful it isn’t cold enough for it to be ice. Sunday was a beautiful day so after church Ronnie and Thereisa came over and took us for a ride. We went places that we hadn’t been in a long time, and a few places I had never been. We enjoyed getting out. I hadn’t had my feet on the ground in a week because of snow and ice.

Well, haven’t been able to get news in because of the weather. I’ve got to say I’ve had enough of snow, ice and cold. Sure enjoyed the 60+ degree weather this past Sunday. Anyway, during the snow and the power outage life was pretty stressful. I was pretty prepared so wasn’t bad except for no coffee which Devin brought to me. He had the generator hooked up and working good. Spent my days reading, doing crossword puzzles, and even cut out some patterns to sew up later. I do have a battery radio and batteries plenty so listened to that. The power was out about a day and a half, but other folks had it much worse waiting several days for power.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Boy did we get rain this week, and it was a gully washer of a rainstorm at that, buckets and buckets of heavy rain. It rained so hard that it knocked down tree limbs all over town, Along Hwy 65 the water was just gushing from all of the springs and water falls along the rockface. Cove Creek and the Little Red River were just raging torrents of water. It was really awesome to see, powerful and terrifying amounts of water.
