This is Wednesday afternoon, and it has been a rainy day. I don’t know how much we have gotten, but a lot. We are just thankful it isn’t cold enough for it to be ice. Sunday was a beautiful day so after church Ronnie and Thereisa came over and took us for a ride. We went places that we hadn’t been in a long time, and a few places I had never been. We enjoyed getting out. I hadn’t had my feet on the ground in a week because of snow and ice.
Well, haven’t been able to get news in because of the weather. I’ve got to say I’ve had enough of snow, ice and cold. Sure enjoyed the 60+ degree weather this past Sunday. Anyway, during the snow and the power outage life was pretty stressful. I was pretty prepared so wasn’t bad except for no coffee which Devin brought to me. He had the generator hooked up and working good. Spent my days reading, doing crossword puzzles, and even cut out some patterns to sew up later. I do have a battery radio and batteries plenty so listened to that. The power was out about a day and a half, but other folks had it much worse waiting several days for power.
Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Boy did we get rain this week, and it was a gully washer of a rainstorm at that, buckets and buckets of heavy rain. It rained so hard that it knocked down tree limbs all over town, Along Hwy 65 the water was just gushing from all of the springs and water falls along the rockface. Cove Creek and the Little Red River were just raging torrents of water. It was really awesome to see, powerful and terrifying amounts of water.
The temperature when I got up this morning was 37 degrees. As I am writing this the thermometer on the back door says 56. It is sunny and not as windy today. I saw a couple of robins this morning. The ice is gone, the mud is slowly drying up. I have started receiving seed catalogs, three so far. There are a few things I am planning to order. Some are seeds and some plants.
News time once again. This has been a busy week for us. Seems like there is always something to do. All good though, on Monday Eddie attended Masonic lodge at St. Joe. I attended a birthday dinner for Sebrena. About fourteen of us met to help her celebrate.
For all you husbands that ask their wife what they want for Valentine’s Day and they say nothing or don’t need anything. It don’t mean anything except you’d better not forget Tuesday is the big Valentine’s day. Just giving you a head start. Except most of you won’t get the paper until after Tuesday and it will be too late, but really you’ve had a year to think about it.
Today is Monday. It is fair and 47. I went to visit Leisa Younger and Charity Rolen at the Mountain Wave office. I left and stopped by to visit Beth Ragland at the Senior Center. Then I went home. I called and talked to Craig Kite and Fanny Smith. They were okay. Kathy is in Tennessee.
February 12, 2020: Hello out there, hope you are doing well. It is a lovely day today, enjoy while we can! I even have a daffodil bloomed. Several have pods; I’m so excited about them. They are the first sign of spring, and I just love them.
Good Sunday morning. For some today is a big deal-winning the hunting blind that the senior center raffled. There will be a Bingo night at the senior center. Thursday, February 16 at 5 pm I don’t know if I will be joining the fun or not yet but I know everyone has so much fun at Bingo!
