Welcome Home and Bear Creek

Hi everyone. Yesterday, Kathy flew to Chicago from Tennessee. She will work there. Today is Monday. I visited Leisa Younger at the Mountain Wave office. I left and stopped by to visit Mike Baker’s wife and Donald Ragland at the Baker drug store. I left and went home.

Weather Arkansas has weather. This was told to me by my son during his first year in San Diego. My phone had been blowing up for a week with weather alerts about this major storm bearing down on San Diego, and being the vigilant mother that I am, I was intensely interested. When it passed, I asked him about the storm and he said, “It was cute.” “Cute?” I asked. “Cute.

Around our town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Harsh winter weather paid another visit this week with a lot of sleet that turned to a sheet of ice over everything outside. So everyone got a few more snow days this week. By the weekend however it was warm and sunny, and the ice retreated with very warm 60 on my front porch.

Witts Springs news

Today, Sunday, Is like a spring day. The temperature as I am writing the news is 56 degrees. Most of the ice and snow is gone. It is a beautiful day outside. There are some things I could do outside, but it is to wet. I put up a bird feeder stand the other day and hung the two suit feeders I had on it. I have not seen the birds on the feeder, but there are signs they have been coming out for some food.

South Mountain/Nubbin Hill news

January 29, 2023: Hello to each of you, hope you have survived the snow! Wow, that was a big one. We had 10 to 12 inches here on the creek. Sometimes I think snow is beautiful, but I guess that one was just too big, I couldn’t see the beauty in it. Lol Oh my, our electric was off-on-off-on, at least it did come on and warm us up now and then. Some people were out for 2 or 3 days. I’m glad we were more on than off I think. We still don’t have internet that is why this will be a week late. Maybe we will have it on by next week, never know with this weather!

Chimes news

I’ll start my news. May not get it finished today. We have sure been hit with another round of Winter. Besides the bitter cold, we’ve had ice, sleet, and a little snow. Everything is so pretty and white and I’m sure very slick to walk on. Ha. I haven’t had my feet on the ground since Sunday evening. Our power was off for a while this morning, but Petit Jean is so good to get it all going as quick as they can. We appreciate all those who have to work out in this stuff and also our mail carrier does all he can to take care of us and get the mail to everyone.

Snowball news

Greetings from Snowball! This week while typing I have no need to warn you of any crazy incoming weather! I hope everyone survived this last batch of sleet and freezing rain, I know it was slick! It also seemed to take forever to melt. Mr. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so we’re in for 6 more weeks of winter. Either way, I figure we always have the possibility of winter weather until mid-March (or later!) anyway.
