Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. We have had our first full week of early spring weather. It was a very rainy week but warmer than it has been. We did get a cold snap one night and it frosted in some places that are a little higher in altitude than we are in Leslie. There were a number of tornados around us, and we have had a few thunderstorms but mostly gentle rain and a lot of it.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Well, we have another cold, rainy week under our belt this week. It has been very cold at night and not too much warmer during the days. We even had a fire in the woodstove a couple of days this week. There have been times this week when the sun has come out and the light that burst through the clouds, it is just glorious. As the saying goes April showers brings May flowers.

I once read a book titled, It Was on Fire When I Lay Down on It, by Robert Fulghum about people doing really stupid things, knowingly. I’m about to do a stupid thing, knowingly. I’m about to plant my tender vegetables. Late spring freezes have left me emotionally scarred for life, so I know you don’t, you don’t ever, EVER plant before Easter. Even so, tomatoes, eggplant, and my one lone squash are going in the ground today.

South Mountain/Nubbin Hill news

Well, this is Sunday night, April 10, and it looks like we are going to get more rain and even a few storms in the next 3 days. That’s what the weatherman has talked about now for several days. Hope it doesn’t storm too much! Last week on Tuesday night the phone alarms and the scanner all went off and woke us up with tornado warnings. Usually, I sleep through a storm and probably would have that night if the alarms hadn’t been so loud. We got up to see what was going on, and we had lots of hard rain, and some thunder and lightning, but not really a storm here. We got about 1 and ½ inches of rain. We stayed up until about 2:00 am and then went back to bed. You just never know any more what’s going to happen.
