Hello to the month of March. I sure hope it’s better than February was. We got another dumping of some nasty weather Wednesday morning and Thursday. I am ready for it to go away. Hopefully that will be the last of it.

As strange as it seems there are still piles of snow lurking in the shady places around. On top of that the weathermen are calling for some winter weather at the end of the week. Spring hurry up and get here.
The June 11, 1915 paper told of a poultice to put on mad dog or snake bites. The article advised that a person should cut up equal parts of strong tobacco and an onion and then add two tablespoons of salt. The poultice was to be applied to the wound every six or eight hours. The article told that no swelling would occur.
Well the weather has certainly turned a lot cooler. That was unexpected.
Well I can now say that I heard it from a source that was pretty reliable and very close to Santa that the little girl did get on Santa’s good list and was getting a nice gift. Well that is good news for sure. The fact that she wrote Saint Nick a letter and thanked him for all the nice things he did, may have had some influence on the situation. I think that Santa was happy to get that letter. He was smiling big when he told me about it. Thanks to all the Santa’s who made this year special.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the coming of Christmas. We are counting down the days now. I tell the youngsters that they should get their letters written and sent in so Santa will know what to bring them.
Here are a few bits of news from the December 1941 Wave. I hope everyone is doing ok. We had a little bit of rough weather but I am thankful that has passed. They say the cooler weather will not last, but I am sure we will have some more in the future.
Thanks to all the hard working folks that made the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Community Center so nice. The food was good and I got to visit with several friends and one friend from Oxley I had not seen in quite a while. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the time spent with friends. There was plenty of food, smoked or unsmoked turkey. Though they did look funny at me when I asked which end of the turkey to light when it was smoked? Lots of deserts to choose from and potatoes and gravy and sweet potatoes. There was someone taking names for the new license plates with a scene from the Buffalo River. I believe these will be available soon. I think you can still sign up for one if you want to. I also got to visit with one of my Watts cousins and her friend. You never know who you will see when you are out and about.
Leslie and Searcy County made a big step forward into the 21st century job market with the winning of a grant to provide IT/Cyber training from the Forge Institute! A great kickoff event was held today for the Leslie Cyber Center at Ryan’s Main Street Grill! The event was funded by the Rural Community Alliance and orchestrated by the City of Leslie, the Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce, and Matheny & Henderson American Legion Post 131 and VFW Post 12127 both of Leslie. The meal was provided by every food establishment in Leslie, which is known for its wonderful food!
