SC Received Historic Preservation Grant

In June of 2023 Searcy County was notified that they would be receiving a Historic Preservation Grant in the amount of $203,000..00 plus to the restoration of the County Court Office. They will be restoring the steps and replacing the doors with the original wooden style doors and a small awing and rails will be place along the steps on the west end of the courthouse. Construction should start on Monday April 29. Their office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and their plans include some beautification landscaping after construction work is completed.

St. Joe news

Bought potting soil, 5 bags and the man said he’d be out to load it. I waited but he didn’t come so loaded it myself and was about to leave when he came out. He apologized and I left. Got almost back to Yellville when I realized I’d loaded 6 instead of 5. Explained what happened the extra was unloaded. Not stealing a bag of dirt. I’d take a lot more than that. But very happy getting plants potted.

Snowball news

After waiting for internet for five years, we finally have it at The Old Snowball House! I’ve yet to get to really try it out because I haven’t been there yet, but I’m so excited to try it out! I’ve only heard good things about it. If you haven’t gotten yours, be patient, it’s coming!

South Mountain/Nubbin Hill news

April 24, 2024 Well, as I sit here tonight writing a little bit, they talk like we will be getting some much needed rain. I hope we get rain this time, we really do need it. It might come a flood. This weather is really something. Last week it frosted here again. Killed most of Ray’s garden that was up. It was 34 degrees here! We had carried the pots in the house that had little plants up, but what else can you do? So Ray has planted again this week! Guess he should have waited a while, but he just can’t wait when he thinks spring is here.
