SC Extension Service

Greetings Searcy County, We are excited to announce that we are taking applications for a half-time position as a Searcy County 4H assistant. For many years we had Pam Canada in this position, and she was a great asset to the county. Once again by the decision of the Searcy County Quorum Court we are going to bring that position back to Searcy County. We believe this will help serve some of the needs of our youth in Searcy County. For more details or to apply, please visit http://uada.edu/jobs Posting # R0053863.

Grant Received for Shirt Factory

On Tuesday, April 9 the City of Marshall and Searcy County as the US Economic Development Administration announced a $1.675 million grant for renovation of the old shirt factory main factory floor in Marshall for a frozen food manufacturing company that will produce for retail sale. Initially look to employ 70-80 people. This couldn’t have happened without the strong work of Searcy County Judge Tony Horton and the Quorum Court, major grant writing support from Jeremy Ragland, Joe Willis and team at the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, Inc. and the Greater Searcy County Chamber of Commerce. Marshall Mayor Kevin Elliot was also involved in the effort and “Appreciates all the work of all the participants to bring us needed jobs!” Judge Horton is also very excited for the needed jobs. The chamber of commerce has been pursuing a food industry business for more than two years, culminating in this announcement. The old shirt factory production floor has been closed since 2019.
