SC Cattlemen hears Cattle Market Update

The Searcy County Cattlemen’s Association met Tuesday August 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall Assembly of God Church. There were 31 members and guests present. The meeting was sponsored by Mr. Josh Linville of Clinton Stockyards Inc located in Clinton, Arkansas. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Adam Redman. Members and guests were asked to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance and the blessing of the meal. The Pledge was recited in unison and Shawn Milliken asked the blessing for the meal. The meal consisted of BBQ sandwiches and chocolate rolls for dessert.

MPD receives Public Safety Grant

In December of 2021, the Marshall Police Department applied for funding through the Arkansas Department of Public Safety Equipment Grant Program. The funding was requested to completely equip the Police Department within car and body worn camera systems along with an updated storage system to store and maintain video files.

Grassy Gap news

Hope that everyone had a good week. Monday was a nice day. I went down to Tammie’s and did some work. I sprayed the wild grape vines on her fence. I put out more tick stuff as the small ticks are really bad this year. I cleaned some more in the garage.

I’m having to write early this week since the Mountain Wave office will be closed Monday for Labor Day, so I don’t have much to write. We are still wishing and hoping to get rain, but it doesn’t sound very favorable for a few days.

King receives Volunteer of the Year award

St. Joe news

School back in session. So far, the kids I’ve asked are ready for it. The new bus driver for Tomahawk was out scouting his route. Told Devin and Miranda that he’s a very nice man. John is also the pastor at the church by the Osborne cemetery.
