We have canceled the July 22nd Searcy County Historical Society meeting. We’ve been informed of the resurgence of covid in the county and thought it best to be cautious and cancel this month’s meeting. When the health gets better, we will reschedule. Thank you for being understanding.

July 12 : Good Sunday morning to all. Boy has it been some kind of hot lately! Poor Loreen Southern fell and broke some ribs, cracked her cheek and got pretty banged up.
On Monday, July 4 the Witts Springs community held their Independence Day celebrations. This year’s horseshoes winners were, first place winners for horseshoes (pictured above) were Mike Cullum & Steve Howard. Second place winners for horseshoes were Jordan Brian & Mark Blair. The winners of the Corn Hole contest were (pictured below) first place Corn Hole winners were Mike Cullum & Steve Howard. Second place Corn Hole winners were Tim Muncy and Lacie Holmes.
OZARK OPPORTUNITIES, INC. has announced that the Summer Non-Emergency & Crisis Energy Assistance Programs will begin Monday, July 25, 2022. The Programs’ goal is to assist low-income households cope with the high costs of electric for cooling their homes in the summer months. This is a one-time assistance payment per program and program year. The programs will run through
On Thursday, July 7 Dearing’s Fireworks held their annual firework show for the residents of Highland Court Rehabilitation and Resident Care Facility. Every year the Dearing family donates fireworks and their time to put on the show and the Marshall Fire Department donated their time to make sure a fire did not break out. The caregivers at Highland court provided drinks, popcorn, cookies, and fresh watermelon for the residents and their families.
On the afternoon of June 27, 2022 at approximately 03:42 p.m. an accident involving a 2012 Ford pickup and a 2004 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle occurred on S Hwy 65. The Ford pickup failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle while attempting to cross Hwy 65 from E. Campus St. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford had no injuries.
Sidney Morrison is in the spotlight this month. Searcy County Farm Bureau in conjunction with Marshall Milling are proud to present Sidney with a $25.00 check from Searcy County Farm Bureau and a matching $25.00 from Marshall Milling. Sidney is the daughter of Corby and Tina Morrison. Sidney is the Marshall FFA Chapter Treasurer. She has created a supervised agricultural experience that she incorporated into her own business of raising and selling goats. Congratulations Sidney.
Calf Creek Masonic Lodge 426 served brats, hot dogs, grilled corn on the cob, popcorn and assorted beverages. Those cooking and serving were: Keith and Brenda Karnes, Johnny Smith, Randy Hazlewood, and Michael Horton.
