Since 2010, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has helped raise more than $1.1 billion to fund more than 675,000 scholarships for students attending 51 Arkansas colleges and universities. This week we want to remind you about the fastapproaching deadline to apply for the next round of scholarships.

Good morning. Welcome to June! Daddy is back in the hospital. He needs to have surgery on his heart before he can have the other procedures he needs. We are awaiting his being transferred to the heart hospital in Little Rock. Right now, he is in Batesville. Granny went with us to visit him yesterday. He was so happy to see her!

On Saturday, June 4 Witts Springs held their Second annual fishing contest. There were several entrants for the contest. Lorenzo Rivera won 1st place in the Bass category with a 2 pounder. Jerimiah Beckwith won 1st place in the perch category. Samuel Beckwith had the most fist. He had 20. Hannah Beckwith had a small bass. The prizes were rod and reel with a zip lock baggie of accessories and some money. Hot dogs and marshmallows were enjoyed after the contest. Everyone had a good time. Prizes were donated by Baker’s Pharmacy, Riley Cooper Tires, Duane Yancey, and Roy Hodges (the Barber). Voters are being requested to return to the polls starting June 14, for early voting on the runoff for Arkansas State Representative and Searcy County Judge. State rep has two candidates and so does county judge. No Democrats filed for the seat.
Conservative Steven Walker today announced he has received the endorsement of Rep. Stu Smith (R-Batesville) in his campaign for the District 27 seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives. Walker is a candidate in the Republican runoff election on June 21.
