Click it or Ticket it campaign underway

Now is the time to change an unsafe practice. Beginning Monday, May 23, law enforcement has patrols across Arkansas watching closely for motorists not using their seat belts. The stepped-up enforcement operation will continue through June 5 as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Click It or Ticket defined enforcement action plan which spans the Memorial Day holiday period.

Good morning. Hope you all weathered the storms safely! I tell you; I have never seen weather like we’re getting. Record heat in some places and heavy snows in other places. Tornados and torrential rains. I can’t believe it’s almost June and we are having cold snaps. This weather has wreaked havoc on our garden. Three times Bill has planted and three times the garden has washed away. Hopefully this next one will be the charm.

2022 Ancestor Fair On

The 2022 North Arkansas Ancestor Fair is on this year after missing two years due to covid. Sponsored by the Searcy County Historical Society, a 501 (c) 3 organization. The North Arkansas Ancestor Fair will be held Saturday, June 4, in Veterans Hall, Marshall, Arkansas. It is a free event, both for providers and for seekers. The Ancestor Fair’s schedule is much simpler this year. There will be no speakers, only free tables, chairs and WiFi for information providers and information seekers.

Searcy County Extension office offers ServSafe Manager Course

ServSafe has been the industry standard since 1919 in training millions of people how to receive, store, prepare, and serve food safely. Through the Cooperative Extension Service, we offer training and certifications for the ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Manager, and ServSafe Instructor & Proctor programs. The Arkansas Department of Health is now requiring each food service facility to have at least one supervisory employee who has Certified Food Manager training.

SC Quilt Guild holds quilt show

On Saturday, April 28 the Searcy County Quilt Guild held their annual quilt show located in the Dr. Charles Daniel Civic Center located in Marshall. This year’s theme was “Log Cabins.” 129 quilts were entered this year. This year’s winner was the Viewer’s Choice was won by Terry Miller of Protium, Missouri.
