On Friday, April 8, Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell attended the graduation ceremony of Searcy County’s newest law enforcement officials, Deputy Blake Kelly and Deputy Caleb Horn. Cassell said prior to attending the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) in East Camden, Kelly and Horn served the sheriff’s office as detention officers.
On Saturday, April 2 a special award the “Pillars of Solomon” was awarded to Searcy County resident Eddie Cannada for his outstanding service to the Masonic Lodge. The Searcy County Cattlemen’s Association met Tuesday, April 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall Assembly of God Church. There were 23 members and guests present. The meeting was sponsored by Grassroots Equipment and Outdoors.
Part Seven: One day he came charging in the house and loaded his double barrel shot gun, because he saw someone messing up his patch. He ran out toward the patch and shot the gun straight up in the air. Some people flew over the fence. He walked down past the melons and saw someone’s shirttail hanging on the barbed wire fence. Turns out it was an Uncle George, Mom’s brother, and friends. Later, Uncle George told Daddy he about scared him to death. He vowed to be careful picking melons from then on.

The 2022 North Arkansas Ancestor Fair is on this year after missing two years due to covid. Sponsored by the Searcy County Historical Society, a 501 (c) 3 organization. The North Arkansas Ancestor Fair will be held Saturday, June 4, in Veterans Hall, Marshall, Arkansas. It is a free event, both for providers and for seekers. The Ancestor Fair’s schedule is much simpler this year. There will be no speakers, only free tables, chairs and WiFi for information providers and information seekers.
ServSafe has been the industry standard since 1919 in training millions of people how to receive, store, prepare, and serve food safely. Through the Cooperative Extension Service, we offer training and certifications for the ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Manager, and ServSafe Instructor & Proctor programs. The Arkansas Department of Health is now requiring each food service facility to have at least one supervisory employee who has Certified Food Manager training.
