Through the Cooperative Extension Service, we offer training and certifications for the ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Manager, and ServSafe Instructor & Proctor programs. On Saturday, April 14 the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce and Civic Leaders attended the Great Civic Leader Tour at Little Rock AFB set up by Major General Joseph Wilson (Retired.) The tour visited the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing and the 223rd Cyberspace Operations Squadron. On Saturday, April 9 the General Robert C. Newton Camp 197 Sons of Confederate Veteran’s sponsored a community cleanup day for the old Marshall Cemetery located in Marshall. Local candidates, chamber members, and residents brought rakes, wheelbarrows, chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc. to cleanup and remove debris from the cemetery. The cemetery is the resting place of several veterans, citizens, and families of various wars including civil, WWI, WWII and Indian just to name a few. On Tuesday, April 12 Highland Court Rehab and Resident Care Facility held their annual Easter egg hunt around the grounds of the facility located in Marshall. Children and parents/ guardians gathered for cookies and juice as they waited for the egg hunt to commence. While they were waiting, they took the opportunity to take their picture with the Easter Bunny and a marshmallow Peep. The residents of the facility gathered on the porch area to watch the festivities. The children were separated by age group and when the time came, they quickly started to gather plastic eggs. There were various prizes to be won if they found the special eggs or plastic chocolate-colored bunnies. Each age group had one bunny to be found and the prize was a $25 dollar Wal-Mart gift card and an actual chocolate bunny.
Area Agency on Aging Seeking Senior Arkansans to Participate in the 2022 Silver Haired Legislative Session. The Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Aging, Adult and Behavioral Health, in partnership with the Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging, is seeking Arkansans who are at least 60 years old to volunteer to serve as delegates to the 22nd Biennial Silver Haired Legislative Session taking place on August 17-18, 2022.
