Hello to everyone this beautiful spring like day. So much difference in today and a week ago at this time. The first thing I want to do is thank everyone who called, text or sent cards for Jason and my 75 anniversary which was Tuesday March 1. You all helped to make our day very special. I had an appointment in Clinton that day at 10:00 a.m. so our kids, Nancy and Jesse, Ronnie, Theresia, Rose and Lily, Randall and Ann, Lane and Nikki, and my three siblings, Nettie, Carlene and George met us at Western Sizzling, and we all had lunch together. The kids had ordered a bouquet of fresh flowers, so Lana from Lana’s Florist had just delivered them and had them on our table when we arrived. It is beautiful and we even got to visit with Lana a few minutes. To add to everything else Larry Anthony Housley came by Wednesday morning with a card from Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and visited for a little while before going to work. We enjoyed him taking time for that. Again, thank you all for everything. It was a good day, and the weather was beautiful. Our kids are so good to us, and we love them dearly and we love all of you.

Around our town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. We had such a week of gloriously sunny days. It was 80 degrees on my front porch. It felt so good to have the warm sunshine after such a long time of very cold temperatures. We did get some very high winds this past week as well, but that is really the month of March for you, lots of windy days.

South Mountain/Nubbin Hill news

March 6th. Well, we just finished watching a storm, possibly tornado go just south of us on the radar. We only had rain here. I think some places had some storm damage. Thankfully we didn’t. This week we have had some beautiful weather, but looks like it is going to change. This next week looks chilly and even mentions possibly snow by Friday, well it says wintery mix. I’ve been busy this week watching 4 of Ethan’s soccer games and 2 of Marshall’s basketball games. I sure enjoy watching the kids play sports. We have been watching some basketball games on TV too.

Buffalo National River as I remember it about 80 years ago

While you are celebrating the Buffalo National River, how about remembering all the families who gave up their land for your enjoyment. I must honestly say that the day we had to give up our property was a very sad day for our family. It was like our roots had been yanked away from us. I think it is normal for most people, since the beginning of the USA, to fight to keep their property.

Martin Box 2 news

Good Sunday evening to everyone. Thankfully we missed the storm today. Hope all our neighbors are okay in the surrounding counties. We were in Branson when the storm warning was issued. Had to do some shoe shopping and Sebrena is planning a remodel job so she and Phillip were looking at ideas for this project. We made it home safe and sound.
