I just got turned down for a car loan. I checked my credit report and found a $600 medical bill I didn’t know about. What is going on?

Autumn fun and community spirit will be on full display as Skylark Café and Humble Grounds present their second annual Fall Festival Fundraiser on Monday, October 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.
And just like that it’s fall! Or Autumn or Autumnal Equinox or, I’ve even heard it called the ‘season of the dead and dying’ (I’m pretty sure they were referring to the trees and not folks!) For some it is cause for celebration as the official kick off of fall begins. A season filled with harvest and pumpkins and lots of pumpkin flavored items. A time of colored leaves and spiced apple juice and candy and football and the absence of humidity and cooler temperatures. Birds will start to fly south and migrate to more reasonable climates for their survival. Fall brings the beginning of hunting seasons, much to the delight of many who choose that as a pastime or hobby. (This year, given the higher numbers of deer on the roadways, I find myself thankful that some will make their way onto tables as healthy meat for families instead of causing so many wrecks – although I have greatly enjoyed watching them graze in our yard with their new babies.) It is a time when home becomes more central as we move our summer activities back inside and start putting away summer tools and toys. It is a time filled with the colors of orange and brown and all hues of golden yellows and muted reds. Autumn happens when the length of day and night are equal. It happens twice a year: once in the fall (now) and once in the spring. The equality of the day and night lengths happen when the sun crosses over our planet’s celestial equator.

In general, my life is pretty good. The family is healthy. The work is satisfying. The Wife, while she didn’t read the last column, promises to read the next.
