These spring storms have really wrecked havoc on our beautiful state this past week, but temps are gradually leveling out and inching upward, so maybe we will see the end of them soon & start to enjoy more outside time. Special prayers go out to all those who have losses of property and injuries from the storms. On Saturday, March 22 the 12th annual Marshall High School Chocolate Roll Festival took place. The MHS Chocolate Roll Festival is where bakers compete to see who the World Champion Chocolate Roll Baker is. In Marshall, a “chocolate roll” refers to a unique, small baked chocolate pie or pastry, a signature dessert of Searcy County, known for its rich chocolate, butter, and sugar filling, and flaky crust. Chocolate rolls are a beloved and cultural dessert in Searcy County, Arkansas. The chocolate roll has become a signature dish of Searcy County, also known as the “Chocolate roll Capital of the World”.
