Members continued to review agency budget proposals in preparation for the 2022 Fiscal Session. This week, the hearings focused on requests for public safety and for the Department of Human Services.

Well after a bit of cold weather we are having a bit of a warmup. I hope it lasts awhile.

It seems after last week’s snow and power outages everything has returned to normal. We got some decent sledding in, I hope y’all did too! You’ve still got time to get your recipes and stories into Amy for the Snowball Civic Club book.

Sorry for not getting any news in the Wave last week. Don had two doctor appointments in Fayetteville, so I decided I needed a Christmas week break, so I spent the week with Kim and great grands, Jackson and Khaleesi. Michael came to visit and ran an errand for me right in the beginning of the snowstorm in Fayetteville. Fortunately, he didn’t get the snow we did but got plenty of freezing ice and some snow. You didn’t want to stick your head out in it for long. Jackson stayed long enough to gather him some snow to freeze and threw a few snowballs. Don sent pictures of the snow accumulations here at home. It was a pretty snow and if I were home, I would have attempted to build a snowman and send my snowman picture around. Anna Jane Ragland made a pretty cute snowman at Grandma Phyllis’ home.

The snow Saturday and Saturday night piled up some deep drifts. This morning the drift behind the house was 28 inches and one just out from the carport was 29 inches. Our power went off about 8 p.m. Saturday night. James wanted coffee this morning, so we went to Aunt Orpha’s house and used her gas stove and made him some coffee. Some of the drifts our into Richland Creek Road were at least waist high on me if I had stopped and got out. The power was back on about 11 a.m. Making it off for 15 hours. I have been wishing I had purchased a backup generator quite a while back. It is supposed to be here next month.

Good Monday morning. I like this snow. I got lots of snow here. Gary is doing okay. Gary mashed his finger last week. Gary went to town to get a haircut. I went to the Mountain Wave office. I visited with Leisa Younger there. Pat Cotton called me. I called and talked to Fanny Smith; they were okay. It is Martin Luther King Jr. day.
