Good morning everyone on this cold Winter day, January 6 . Today is Jason’s 96 birthday. He isn’t up yet, and I just hope he gets up feeling pretty good. The kids, Nancy is already here and Ronnie, Thereisa and Lily and Randall and Ann will be coming today to have lunch with us and help him celebrate his birthday.

On Tuesday, December 7 the Searcy County School District announced their district spelling bee winners. Students from grades three through eight competed in this year’s Bee. The winners are Caleb Mainord in First place, James Henry in Second place, and Makayla Gray in Third place. They will go on to compete in the County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 11 at the Searcy County Veteran’s Memorial Hall at 1 p.m. Pictured above (left to right) are winners Caleb Mainord, James Henry, and Makayla Gray.
Hello 2022! I’m not sure I’m thrilled with how things are starting out her. I’m going to start this column with sad news.
The Arkansas General Assembly will convene for the 2022 Fiscal Session on Monday, February 14. Preparations for that session will begin in the next two weeks.
Well, I knew it would turn cold and sure enough, it did. Last night and today in the teens and even snow flurries! That’s getting the New Year started off right. Well, like January and winter time. I prefer the 70’s myself.
The Dustin Reid Memorial Foundation made a $500 contribution to the family of Justin Brenaman. Justin was born with heart defects, has had many heart surgeries in and will continue to be seen by heart specialists throughout his life.
Hope that everyone had a great New Year. The wind really has blown hard up here on the mountain. Larry brought us another load of firewood. We went down to David and Melissa Smith for Christmas dinner. It was really good.
According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, on December 10 his office responded to a domestic call on Hwy. 27 near Marshall.
How about this Arkansas weather? Last week the temps were in the high 60’s and today, Sunday, the temps are 19/20 degrees. Some like the cold temps, as for me, I like the tropical temps.
