Petition filed to remove Harness from office
According to court documents filed in Searcy County Circuit Court, Special Prosecuting Attorney Ashley Bowen has filed a verified petition seeking the removal of Jim Harness as Searcy County Judge and a motion for a temporary restraining order prohibiting him from performing his duties and receiving pay as county judge. The documents were filed electronically with court on December 3, 2021.
Snowball news
Let’s start this column with a huge, over the top, Thank You! Last week an anonymous donor made a donation in the amount of $5,000 to the Snowball Civic Club!! They went straight to the bank, apparently swore the bank staff to secrecy and deposited the money right in the account. We don’t know who they were, but their generosity, along with the generosity of other friends and neighbors have paid off our loan for the roof. The Snowball Civic Club is out of debt and ready to conquer the next task! Thank you, your contribution to our project is greatly appreciated.
Drive sober campaign underway in SC
This holiday season, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is partnering with the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office to share the message about the dangers of drunk driving. NHTSA and the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office want all drivers to remember this lifesaving message: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. In support of the law enforcement community’s dedication to protecting the lives of residents in their communities, you’ll see officers working together December 15, 2021, through January 1, 2022, to take drunk drivers off the roads. These expanded efforts to protect against impaired driving will be conducted in a fair and equitable way.

Crumley to seek another term
Searcy County Assessor Randy Crumley has announced that he will seek another term as County Assessor. Randy is a lifelong resident of Searcy County. He is a member of the Republican Party, Chamber of Commerce and attends Loafer’s Glory Church. He has been married to Penny Woods Crumley for 35 years and they have one child, La Tisha Crumley Knapp and one grandchild, Rexx.

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. Goodness we have had all of the weather this week it has been sunny, hot and muggy it was 80 degrees on my front porch on Friday and it is 26 degrees on my porch this morning.

Kinetic Windstream gives update
On Wednesday, December 1 Kinetic Windstream held an update on the construction project for Kinetic Windstream. It is a 7.7-million-dollar construction project that will make 1G internet service available to roughly 800 locations within Searcy County. This type of internet is symmetrical which means it could be one gig up or down. The target date for completion is March 31, of 2022. This project is funded through the American Rescue Plan. In the Spring these grants will become available again and another application has been submitted with the State along with the County Judge Jim Harness for another broadband project to make internet service available in about 1600 locations within Searcy County. This project will be bringing Fiberoptic internet directly to residents’ homes.
