The Searcy County Senior Activity Center is open for inside dining. Hot meals to those over 60 years of age Monday through Friday from 11:30. a.m. until 12 noon and indoor dining is from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. The center is still providing hot meals for the elderly in Searcy County for a suggested $4 donation. In celebration of our 10th anniversary of serving Marshall, First National Bank of North Arkansas presented a $6,000 donation to the Buffalo River Historic Jail and Museum. Branch Manager, Alesha Collier, stated “The commitment to serve our community is a common thread among all the employees here.

Mr. Leon Jones, candidate for Arkansas Attorney General was the special speaker at the Searcy County Republican committee meeting that was held November 11. Timmy Reid and Alan Yarborough, candidates for State Representative of District 27 also spoke.

Pictured (right) is Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell and members of his team executing a search warrant on Tuesday morning, November 23, in St. Joe. During the operation, law enforcement confiscated a large amount drugs and money at the site.

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, a call received by his office on Sunday, November 28 concerning a resident brandishing a firearm on Pickle Road in Searcy County led to the arrest of Searcy County resident, Dillon S. Carlton.

On Thursday, November 11 Bob King the Director/Curator gave a tour of the building to Editor Charity Rolen of the Marshall Mountain Wave newspaper. While on the tour King answered some questions and gave a description of the building itself. The building will be the home of the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce and visitor center. Since the Chamber will be using a portion of the building for office space, they will be paying the utilities.

The Searcy County Cattlemen’s Association met Tuesday, October 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the Marshall Assembly of God Church. There were 24 members and guests present. The meeting was sponsored by Cattlemen’s Livestock Auction.
