Welcome Home and Bear Creek News

Hi everyone, today is Monday. Kathy said it rained one inch at their house yesterday. I visited with Pat Oliver. We went to Clinton. We went shopping at Walmart. After that we went to eat lunch at Taco Bell. The lunch was good. After that we stopped at the Dollar Store in Leslie. We went home after that. Last Tuesday I went to the doctor. I visited with Deanna Struton. She works at the Boston Mountain Rural Health Center in Marshall. I went home after that. Last Wednesday was Brenda Sellers birthday. Happy Birthday to you! I went to visit Pat Oliver. We went to the hair shop. Pat got a haircut. The Arkansas Razorbacks played Ole Miss. The score was Arkansas – 66 and Ole Miss – 73. Brandon Housley and Brenda Sellers came to visit me. They are okay. Last Saturday the Razorbacks played Florida. The score was Arkansas – 63 and Florida – 71. Last Sunday we did not have church. Responsibilities toward neighbors.

Marshall’s Martial Arts

On Jan 02, 2025 Kassie and Jason Hay started Martial Arts classes at the Marshall Civic Center. Jason and Kassie Hay just recently moved to Marshall, AR and noticed that there were no Martial Arts classes in the Searcy County area. Anyone who wanted to attend classes like that had to drive at least an hour or more to attend. Jason and his family saw this need in Marshall and decided to fulfill it.

Washboard on Main

On March 05, 2024 it was announced that a new laundromat would open in Marshall, AR called Washboard on Main. The Laundromat went through months of construction that led to the opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday Dec. 31, 2024 at 2 pm. Washboard on Main is located at 107 W Main St, Marshall, AR 72650. It is open Monday-Saturday 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. Washboard on Main has single washers at $2.50, 40 lb. washers at $6, and digital display dryers at 25¢ every 4 minutes. Washboard on Main has expressed their desire and excitement at the prospect of being able to help the members of the community through this laundromat. Let’s celebrate the revitalization of Marshall with Washboard on Main.

John Teague has been feeling under the weather and made a visit to the doctor. He is home better. The number 1 selling book, the bible, is selling greater than ever. Since all the worldly events are following the signs of that book. The St. Joe Baptist Church had a special service and dinner last Saturday night. Dec. 14. My grandson, Gavin Kidder, has to go to work at Harrison on a bridge construction crew so he is a working man again and enjoys the job. He is really good to his grandpa. He brings him supper a lot of the time Shiloh Arthur has been sick the last few days, so let’s keep him in prayer Dec 25 1776 Washington and the continental army crossed the Delaware to capture the Hessian army. Losing only two men, and they died due to the cold and getting wet. This began at 6 am and continued until early on the 26th at Trenton. This boosted morale and reignited the revolution.

Reading also supports word learning and preliteracy skills in older children. The ECLKC notes that when adults read to children, they typically speak words they would not otherwise use in typical discourse. That helps children expand their vocabularies, even before they learn to read on their own.
