Fond Farewells

Those of us at Marshall Mountain Wave want to wish Charity Rolen, the former editor of the paper, a fond farewell and good luck in her future endeavors. She will be truly missed. Along with personnel changes, Marshall Mountain Wave will be enduring some hourly and conduct changes. The Marshall Mountain Wave office will be closed Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and open 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The new hours will allow new reporter Victoria Kroeker to engage with the county and its citizens more often. We at the Marshall Mountain Wave newspaper hope to welcome these changes in the new year. Happy New Year!

Around Our Town

Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. I hope you all had a very Happy New Year. Many folks have different family traditions around the New Year concerning what to do and what to eat and why. For my family we eat black eyed peas, hog jowl and collard greens cooked in bacon fat. The black eyed peas were for good fortune and health, the hog jowl was for abundance and the collard greens represented money. All great things to wish for someone for the New Year. I always thought that abundance and money were the same thing. As I have gotten older and understand more clearly the difference between abundance and money. Money is what you pay your bills with, and abundance is more of a world view of seeing abundance in every aspect of life from career opportunities not just to make a living but to live a more rewarding and fulfilling life. Creative abundance where you create new ways of looking at things. Abundance in community is my favorite kind of abundance. Especially here in Leslie, living in such a small town folks get to know your face around town and if you live here long enough folks even get to know you. So Happy New Year.
