The Whittlin’ and Fiddlin’ Festival is returning to Leslie on Saturday, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing with it a full day of Ozarks tradition, live bluegrass, heritage crafts, and even a World Record attempt.
The Rotary Club of Marshall welcomed Valorie McCleary, Superintendent of the Searcy County School District, as guest speaker at their recent meeting. McCleary shared exciting news about the district’s success in the latest 2025 Arkansas State Department of Education test results.

The streets of Leslie were full of energy, laughter, and pedaling feet during this year’s Riding Back to School event on July 29. Children and families gathered at the Leslie Intermediate School parking lot before riding together through a series of fun stations on Elm Street, ending at the Leslie Community Center.
The last couple of weeks we’ve been away on vacation. As we left our beautiful spot in Cozahome and headed east, we noted the extreme geographical diversity of Arkansas. The mountains, curves, and hills where we live gave way to the flat-lands that put Arkansas on the map for their rice and soybean production.
