The Cozyhome Connection

As you continue to drive out Cozahome Road, the last special place I want to call attention to is Turkey Pen Springs. The road becomes narrower and is mostly fit for only one car as a place wide enough to meet oncoming cars is hard to find, but once there you find a little circle driveway. Although I couldn’t find this amazing spring listed on the Searcy County topographical maps, it has been there for many years. I remember when I lived out here while in high school that very few people had wells and there was no city water so most of us got our drinking water from this spring. Some had elaborate pumps and tanks and hauled it home to fill wells or cisterns, but most of us just collected it with buckets and took what we could haul. The water was clear, cold, and tasted wonderful. No one thought about anything that might be ‘growing’ in it or the need to filter it.
