PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

A new disease for cattle in our part of the country has been discovered to be present here in Searcy County. The disease is Theilaria orientalis ikeda. It is carried by the Asian Long Horn Tick, and is a blood parasite. The symptoms are similar to Anaplasmosis which is carried by the same tick but is a different disease. If you would like to learn more about this disease you can go to The Arkansas Department of Agriculture website and search Asian Longhorn Tick Resources or call your Searcy County University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture County Extension Agent at 870-4483981.

Local Veterans Donate New Signs

On Tuesday, August 1 the Veterans from Leslie post 131 and 12127 installed new signs on Highway 65 and Highway 66 west. They used previously installed stone pillars as an anchor for the new signs. The signs were commissioned by Creative Impression in Mountain View Arkansas. There is a third sign that is going to be placed at a later date near the Red River Café on the South side of the roadway. This is just one way that the veterans give back to the community.

Animal Lovers for Animal Lovers in SC

On Friday, July 19 the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the grand opening for the Harrison Animal Clinic located in Leslie. Their hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-Friday 7:30 p.m. Services available are surgeries, dentals, large and small animal care, vaccinations, antibiotics, etc. For the time being they are unable to make emergency visits at their Leslie location. To make an appointment call 870-447-3200 and they are located at 6620 Hwy 65 S. Leslie, AR.
