Grassy Gap news

Hope that everyone had a good week. We had all of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We shot off a lot of fire works for everyone. The kids had a lot of fun. Melissa brought Ezekiel, Reid, and another boy up to our house. The boys had a lot of fun playing with all of the toys I have for the kids. I think they took all of the toys out at lest two times and put them all back. Later that afternoon she took them down to her house so they could go swimming. David helped Larry get my car fixed.

Orville McInturff Remembered at Historical Society

The Searcy County Historical Society will meet Friday, July 26, at 7:00 pm, in Marshall’s First Christian Church. James Johnston will give a survey of Orville McInturff and his writings. Orville McInturff had an interesting variety of interests: as a builder, a politician and as Searcy County’s first historian. He is known for his books: “Searcy County, My Dear: A History of Searcy County, Arkansas” and “A History of Searcy County Schools, and their relation to the economic development of the county.” But he also wrote the results of his other research, which was never published. Johnston will read some of his other writings, as well as tell some of his reminiscences of Orville. Others will be invited to tell their memories of Orville.
