My grandmother is having difficulties taking care of herself, so she will probably need in-home assistance soon. I believe Arkansas Medicaid could pay for that care, but we might have to wait to get it. Is that true?

I hope everyone had a great week and made lots of great memories to carry forward and share. Our country’s birthday always seems a little low-key to me as so much ‘ado’ is made of fireworks and cookouts. Hope you celebrated the fact that we live in an amazing country and are so very favored that this is the country our Lord chose for us to live in. We were blessed to entertain both our daughters and two of our granddaughters from Tennessee over the holiday. We also had several siblings and cousins who live nearby in Arkansas visit us in order to spend some time with them. As I’m sure it was at your house, there was lots of food eaten around here!

After all my carping about the need for rain, I would be remiss to not say thanks to the Lord and Hurricane Beryl for sending us right at 4 inches. The people who bought our house in Paron were from Washington state so when the first hurricane after their move was predicted to be still a tropical storm by the time it got to Paron, I called with instructions. They were surprised, having actually looked at maps, that Arkansas got such things.

Big Flat Buzz

Good morning and welcome to July. Already we are facing horribly hot weather. I know it’s going to get hotter, and I hope to spend more time at the creek. I miss being able to go to Big Creek, for my childhood we all used to load up the truck and headed for a day filled with sun, fun, and watermelon. I miss going to Big Creek but thanks to some people for going in and leaving trash behind, the public can’t come swim any more. A handful of people had to ruin it for everyone!

MMW Editor Receives Award at APA Convention

On Saturday, June 29 Marshall Mountain Wave Editor Charity Rolen attended the Arkansas Press Convention in Jonesboro Arkansas. Rolen has been the editor of the Wave since 2021 and this was her third convention she attended. However, this was the first time she entered into the APA contests. After the convention at the awards banquet, she was awarded First Place for Best Front-Page Design, Newspapers less than 1200 in the 2024 Better Newspaper Editorial Contest.
