Toll Road Robotext Scam

Attorney General Tim Griffin issued the following statement alerting consumers to a scam that has recently made its way to Arkansas: “A new texting scam has reached Arkansas. Under this ‘smishing’ scam—a combination of ‘SMS’ (texts) and ‘phishing’— scammers attempt to steal consumers’ personal information and trick consumers into handing over funds by impersonating a state toll service.

The rain has been nice. I did not get the yard mowed last week. I had to go to Russellville on Thursday, and did not have time to get the mowing done when I got back. The bad storms have broken up and went around us so far.

According to a recent survey from Nationwide Travel Insurance, U.S. consumers are optimistic about travel plans throughout 2024. Ninety-one percent said they have plans to travel domestically, and 50 percent had international trips on the horizon. Also, 40 percent intended to travel more than they did in 2023.

The Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri Tribe (CAMT), Ozark Branch, next scheduled meeting will be on June 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be at the Arise Church, 1601 E. Main St., Mountain View, AR 72650. Please have your membership card on hand. If you have any questions or inquiries concerning this meeting, please contact your Councilman. Hello to all of you Marshall Mountain Wave readers and greetings from the jewel of the Ozarks, Leslie, Arkansas. We have had such lovely weather for the most part this week. Although the heat is just around the corner and there have been a couple of days when you can feel the mugginess that awaits us later in the month. We have had several cool mornings. The kind of slow cool mornings that make me so happy to live in the Ozarks. The hot weather is coming so fasten your seatbelts, Leslie Homecoming is happening, and the parade is on Saturday. If you have been to Homecoming you know that the day of the Homecoming Parade is usually the hottest day of the year.

St. Joe news

Bruns got hit really hard by the end of the May storms. I don’t live that far from Bruns and there was some wind and rain but nothing else. Regina Knapp told me about all the devastation. KY3 didn’t have much coverage. Regina said she saw a small clip, but I’ve seen nothing and 4 people lost their lives. Don Still said a 12-year-old boy around Eros and 26-yearold girl at Olvey/Harmon area died. So very sorry. Thoughts and prayers to families in their time of loss.
