Apple trees The time was when I would have given my eye teeth for an apple tree. They conjured up visions of snowy pink blossoms, crisp apples in fall, apple pie. Not so anymore. I meant to go to an apple grafting class offered by our excellent county extension office– I unfortunately had to miss due to a schedule conflict after all– but the biggest problem I foresaw was that it came with the gift of an apple tree to take home. I needed another apple tree like I needed another cat. I love my cats and I love my four apple trees, I just don’t need any more for the same reason, that they will work you half to death. When we moved here, the trees set about producing apples with a fury. I decided to up my game and learn better how to nurture them.
