Apple trees The time was when I would have given my eye teeth for an apple tree. They conjured up visions of snowy pink blossoms, crisp apples in fall, apple pie. Not so anymore. I meant to go to an apple grafting class offered by our excellent county extension office– I unfortunately had to miss due to a schedule conflict after all– but the biggest problem I foresaw was that it came with the gift of an apple tree to take home. Bought potting soil, 5 bags and the man said he’d be out to load it. I waited but he didn’t come so loaded it myself and was about to leave when he came out. He apologized and I left. Got almost back to Yellville when I realized I’d loaded 6 instead of 5. Explained what happened the extra was unloaded. Not stealing a bag of dirt. I’d take a lot more than that. But very happy getting plants potted.
