He was born in Canaan, Arkansas on December 21, 1940 to Bunyan Horton and Della Morrison Horton. Jitter was a nickname given to him in 1942 by Veda Horton after a comic character, Jitter the Monkey. The name has stuck with him all of his life.

Linda Ann (Maxey) Johns, 73, of Mountain View, Arkansas died on January 5, 2022 at her home in Mountain View, Arkansas. A much-loved mother and grandmother, she was born on February 19, 1948 in Leslie, Arkansas to the late Dewey and Lue Vena (Harris) Maxey.
