Grover Clyde “Bud” “Doc” Blair died in Little Rock, AR on October 31, 2023. He was born April 18, 1946, in Marshall, AR to William Clyde Blair and Dolph Hensley Blair.

He attended Marshall Schools and graduated in 1964. After graduation he attended Oklahoma State University, University of Arkansas, and University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, from which he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1971.

After teaching in ambulatory clinics at the University, he returned to Marshall to establish Searcy County Veterinary Service, his veterinary practice, through which he would serve Searcy County and surrounding counties for 52 years.

He held a special place in his heart for the youth of Searcy County and their development. He supported the Marshall FFA, Searcy County Fair, the school system and its students, and was a member of the Marshall School Board for several years. He served as a Justice of the Peace, marrying many Searcy County citizens, and was a Searcy County Election Commissioner, as well as being a member of Arkansas Veterinary Medical Licensing Board.

He was a member of the Calf Creek Masonic Lodge 426, Witts Spring Lodge 603, and Wiley’s Cove Lodge 524. He served in numerous roles and offices as a member of these lodges.

He was a member of Marshall Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and choir member.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine McSherry Blair, of the home, daughter Amanda Blair Johnson (Luke), grandson Rhett of Little Rock, and son, Jon E. “Jeb” Blair (Kristina) and grandchildren Alexandria, Zane, and Irelynn of Cibolo, Texas.

Memorial services for him will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Marshall Methodist Church. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery where Doc will be laid to rest with Masonic Honors.
